Kaabo Wolf King GT Pro Review: Super powerful, Ultra-fast and Incredibly Smooth

  • Read Time: 13 min

This is an update but it feels more like a brand new scooter. The original Wolf Warrior 11 was voted the best "beast" scooter in the world.

Then we got the Wolf GT, with more power, higher top speed, and bigger brakes.

And now, the King GT, and it truly is... King! Even more power than the GT.

Many updates place it firmly at the top of performance scooters as well as a proper viable alternative to a motorcycle.

kaabo wolf king gt acceleration and top speed

At the time of writing, the Wolf King GT Pro is the fastest production scooter on the planet! Besides racing scooters like the Rion, this is the fastest electric scooter you can buy. Extreme performance at $3799 is now available.

The top speed is 62 mph (99 kph). Just a tad quicker than the Wolf GT but the acceleration is where the big difference is felt. New 50A sine wave controllers have increased the acceleration from zero to 30 mph (48 kph) by 29%. It only takes 3.8 seconds.

Kaabo wolf king gt hill climb

It crushes hills without even blinking. The only thing that will see it beat or pose a challenge is the NAMI Burn-E. And only by a whisker.

A huge new 72V 35Ah LG/Samsung battery has increased the range as well compared to the Wolf GT. It is now possible to go 90+ miles (144+ km) in eco mode riding. But the kicker is, 55 miles (88 km) in aggressive riding mode, or should we say mood, will definitely be on the agenda. Double chargers also mean it only takes 7 hours to recharge before hitting the road again.

Dual 2000W brushless motors with a peak power output of 7200W on disposal are what give you that top speed of 62 mph (99kph) as well as acceleration enough to scare people off.

This is serious stuff and if you are looking for something that can take you up proper hills, over rough terrain at high speeds, you will love the King.

All Wolf's build quality is legendary but has had some issues that are now rectified. Forged endcaps on the King GT ensure that failures, where the front axle connects to the fork, are eliminated. A small number of such failures were reported.

The King GT is now the best of them all.

As part of the upgrade, the motor controllers are now inside of a box attached to the forks, which also helps keep them cool. It looks like it's made of plastic but it is in fact aluminum.

It comes in gold and black and it does look great in both colors but surprisingly good in gold. Fluidfreeride has decided to only sell the black ones though, as the gold one does seem to fade over time in a way the black doesn't.

The Wolf King has double hydraulic motorcycle-style shocks in the front and dual rear springs.

The suspension has a very stiff set up. And it might surprise you if you are used to softer settings. But remember, it is for a specific purpose and that is hardcore off-roading. And also to ensure no or minimal wobble at warp speed.

kaabo wolf king gt ride quality

Progressive throttle control is a welcome update that improves the ride quality on such a powerful electric scooter. After all, a comfortable thumb throttle is important to be able to control all that power. Less powerful scooters let you use the throttle more or less like an on/off switch. That won't work with this type of machine. Focus and a steady hand/thumb are key to riding smoothly.

The sine wave controllers provide a smooth transition even if your thumb has a less delicate touch. There is no initial jerky reaction.

You can feel a big difference between the Wolf GT/King and the Warrior 11 for example.

It is also quieter than the Wolf GT, by 10 dB no less. To the human ear, that appears as half as loud.

It has a hydraulic dual front motorcycle-grade suspension which will always be more stable than a single stem. In fact, this is the most stable and smooth scooter we've tried.

Another improvement is the higher stem and wider handlebars. 40" (101,6 cm) long and 4,5 inches wider than the Wolf GT.

For bigger taller riders this is a welcome addition as it makes you feel more at one with the vehicle. Especially important considering the top speed available.

Typical Wolf amazing headlights are now completed with great front turn signals. High mounted, big and bright they are almost visible from all angles. Tinted rear turn signals and brake light add to the overall coolness of the GT.

Side LED deck lighting will make you more visible from all directions.

Stopping power leaves nothing left to desire with the amazing front and rear fully hydraulic Zoom brakes and perfectly calibrated brake levers. A gentle touch and you feel in control with pinpoint precision and accurate braking feel. ABS is standard as well.

15 mph (24 kph) to zero only takes 10 ft (3m). 3mm thick rotors are bigger than is common practice and ensure strong braking performance and less risk of damage to discs.

The battery is also being recharged under braking with configurable regenerative braking similar to what is being used in car racing these days.

Right, you can't be the best in class in everything. Especially not when the focus is on high-end performance. Stability and rigidity need to come first if you plan on riding at 62 mph. This adds weight.

It might render the Wolf's the "least portable e scooters" monicker, and that is probably true.

First, there is the weight. 120 lbs (55kg) is not something you throw around on a bus. But, the max rider weight is 330 lbs (150kg) and for that you need a solid piece of construction.

The GT's extra wide handlebars also don't fold.

But the King/GT and the other Wolfes were not designed with ultra portability in mind. That is a different category altogether.

Another update, that will be great if it works as promised by Kaabo, are 11,6" (29,6 cm) "puncture-proof tires", or self-repairing tires as they are also called.

And in all fairness, calling them "puncture proof" is a bit of a misnomer, but they do self repair. They can withstand up to 55 lbs (25 kg) of pressure before being penetrated (punctured), and once they are, no air is leaking out. Marvelous.

The GT comes with road tires as standard and off road tires optional.

The Kings deck is the same as the Kaabo Wolf GT.

It’s big, measuring 20,3" (51,5 cm) long by 9,0" (23 cm) wide, allowing plenty of room to move around during long rides.

It's clad in rubber, making it easy to clean while still keeping you surefooted though a "sandpaper" style deck offers more grip when wet.

You stand taller than on the average electric scooter with a ground clearance of 6.3" (16 cm) and are thus more visible to other traffic.

The cockpit feels a step up and reminds one of a motorcycle. All controls are in the right place and where you need them to be. That smooth thumb throttle allows for total control under acceleration. Headlights, turn signals, and horn is controlled by your left thumb.

Gears and riding mode are on the right side of the handlebar.

An all new bright 4,2" TFT color display shows speed, average speed, temperature of both motor controllers, mileage, riding modes, and lets you customize electric braking as well as controller settings, gears, and password protection.

It is a new level display setting a new benchmark.

Resistance is the right word. Kaabo has released a video where they test the display, controllers, and motors fully submerged in a water tank for ten days!!...and they still work. It is nothing if not astonishing.

But even so, it "only" has an IPX5 rating. However, the question of if you can ride in the rain is probably positively answered and covered with margin. But...Kaabo still recommends avoiding too much water exposure. And please, don't try the submerging trick at home.

Nothing to report. Unless you throw it down a mountain, it stays on the road and keeps going.

The original Wolf Warrior was designed primarily with an Asian market in mind or so it would seem. So the stem was a bit on the short side for a western public. Kaabo were not initially interested in addressing this but after heavy lobbying and pressure from Fluidfreeride, this has now been sorted with the longer stem as well as wider handlebars.

As far as high-performance electric scooters go, The Kaabo Wolf King GT has set a new standard. Some of its features, such as the throttle control, displays, water resistance, and flat tire prevention should be standard on more e scooters.

They make so much sense, especially in a world where we are not only looking for a last mile solution, but greener alternatives for longer commutes. That will mean more protection from light rain if not proper downpours. Displays that are visible in direct sunlight and not having to worry about range and punctures.

It is fast, solidly put together, and worth every penny.
